Get a FREE Driver’s Licence with Family Finance

Family Finance has been offering customers and anyone something the government is only just getting into!

Over the last few years this small provincial finance company has been offering the public a no stings driver’s licence sponsorship. “We saw the need in our area, where there’s little public transport, and many live out of the town, for people to have a driver’s license” said Rosemary.  Also, if they were legal this would relieve some stress in their lives as they could be confident they were driving legally. This also helps families be safe. But the best thing I feel is the gain in self-esteem”

So many do not realise how hard for someone of small means just getting a driver’s license is. To sit your learners, you need computer access or $20+ spare cash to purchase the manual to study. You also need your birth certificate which Family Finance has obtained for the applicants as a visa is needed and often not available for them. Then you need to know how to answer the questions on the computer at the office, and the $100 or so to take the test anyway. For your restricted license the biggest hurdle is having a legal car to sit the test in. Added to this is to have time behind the wheel so you are confident with a fully licensed driver sitting beside you.

Here again Family Finance’s sister company, Archibald Cars, provides a legal car for the sponsored person to sit the licence in.

Family Finance originally focused the sponsorship on women over 25  but have since opened the sponsorship up to younger applicants as too often they saw this need.   We are very proud that more than 225 people have been helped to drive legally.

So good on you NZ Government getting younger drivers legal but Family Finance saw this need and have been acting on it for years!
